Governor Chris Christie fired seven county superintendents, who represented Bergen, Burlington, Cape May, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean and Somerset counties.

County school superintendents oversee local school board actions such as budgets, curriculum and major hirings. The firings will allow the Governor to appoint leaders of his own selection to the positions.
