In my first year as Executive Director at ASAH, I have learned so much about the work our schools do, and the ways in which you change lives. With every school visit I make I am more in awe of your energy; it shows in your compassion, innovation and commitment to excellence. Together with our board and committees, Susan, Donna, and our consultants, I am working to bring that same energy to ASAH!
Like many of our schools, summer is no longer the ‘slow’ time it once was, so we have been busy developing strategies to expand the visibility and reach of ASAH, exploring new ways to increase the value of membership, and implementing time-saving technologies to improve and streamline operations.
In the coming weeks we will roll out our 2022-23 Professional Development Program, with free virtual training opportunities for ASAH school leaders and educators. We will announce our parent advocacy education events, designed to help introduce more families to ASAH and giving them the resources, information and skills they need to access private special education. Our vital print materials have been updated and re-printed, and content has been added to the website.
We are working on regulatory and other strategies to help address the teacher shortage. Our new video outreach campaign to increase awareness of careers in private special education schools is underway.
This fall ASAH will be hosting an industry-wide event to help bring together key stakeholders to develop a shared agenda for special education. We are expanding our reach with the revival of “Promising Futures,” now an e-newsletter, for a broader audience. And, we have expanded and restructured our affiliated membership program, opening the door to new partnerships and support from a broader business community.
With a solid foundation of nearly 50 years of advocacy and innovation, I am honored to lead ASAH today, bringing a strategic approach to a progressive vision for the future.
All the best,
John J. Mulholland, Jr.,Esq.
